Create Trusted User

Checklist for creating a new Trusted User.

Sysop Responsibilities

  • Create system account in /etc/passwd using script in /root/
  • Confirm per-user file system quotas set correctly (quota -s)
  • Add user's public SSH key to ~/.ssh/authorized_keys
  • Add user's public SSH key to gitosis and give write access to appropriate repos
  • Create e-mail alias/account on mail server
  • Subscribe user to tuser@lists.archserver.org mail list
  • Add users IP address to fail2ban exclusion list (only if user has a static IP!)
  • Add a note to the TU's account in the forums ("Trusted User")
  • Give the TU's account "developer" rights in the Bug Tracker
  • Add users profile to the "Team" page of the website

New TU Responsibilities

  • Provide a preferred username and a copy of SSH public key to sysop
  • Advise if you would like an email alias @tu.archserver.org to forward to your existing e-mail, or as a proper POP3 account
  • If you have one, advise sysop of your static IP address for fail2ban exclusion list
  • Send your bio and a photo to sysop or a web dev for inclusion in http://www.archserver.org/team.html
  • Ensure you are registered at all the AS websites:
    • Forums
    • Bug Tracker
  • Familiarise yourself with the Packaging_Guidelines
  • Ensure you have set the correct packager variable in your makepkg.conf
